Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies and are comparable to regular FIAT currencies in the sense that they can be traded, saved, or used to gather interest. The large difference between FIAT and crypto is that banks can create extra supply of FIAT currencies. This results in an unlimited supply that can create inflation and reduces the buying power of the currency in question.
